Sam Phillips,

Sam Phillips is a retired firefighter who currently works in public relatoins at Anniston EMS. He is a grauate of Cobb Avenue High School where he played football and basketball for Robert Mosby, a member of the inaugural Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame class in 2005. Phillips attended Cameron State A&M University in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he played football for Jim "Bear" Vinson.

In addition to his work on the board of the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame, Sam serves on the board of directors of the Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board and the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and formerly served on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Central Alabama. He is a lifetime member of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters.

Phillips is a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He and his wife, Yvonne, have four children - a daughter, Adina, and sons Sam, Adrian and Antonio. They also have three grandchildren - granddaughter DeMaris and grandsons Trey and Jaylin.
